The book includes research papers that were projected in the training course organized by the Center for Planning and Architectural Studies in Jeddah city, in1986. In which they discussed technical, economical, hereditary, architectural, and social aspects that have to be taken into consideration to maintain the old city and to facilitate re-use of its ancient buildings. The book also comprises a practical reference about latest development in ancient Cairo areas.
