The encyclopedia projects various examples of architecture all throughout Islamic ages that passed by Cairo city, to analyze them from religious view then from formal view and it summarizes the basics of architectural designing that can be applied to contemporary architecture. The encyclopedia comprises a section for planning basics that were derived from urban analysis of several old cities. That approach with all of its distinguished characteristics can be seen to apply to old cities. The encyclopedia was prepared at The Center for Planning and Architectural Studies.
